  • Full Obituary

    Warren L. McCoy, 86, of Highland, IL died at his residence December 25, 2007.   He was born June 5, 1921 in Eldorado, IL to Ralph and Emma (Turner) McCoy, and they are both deceased.  He married Dorothy L. Hilliard on March 7, 1948 in Harrisburg, IL and she died September 15, 2005.

    He is survived by one son - Lee A. (Debbie) McCoy, Santa Barbara, Calif.;  one daughter - Paula S. (Dale) Cauley - Highland, IL: one granddaughter - Tricia McCoy, Santa Barbara, Calif. two brothers - Robert (Iona) McCoy - Eldorado, IL and Joe (Mary) McCoy - Eldorado, Il:  Numerous nieces and nephews.

    Also preceded in death by one brother - Wayne McCoy and two sisters - Beverly Davis and Helen Lombardo.

    Mr. McCoy was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp.  He entered WWII service on September 9, 1942.  Duty began with the 9th US Army Air Force performing ground crew maintenance with the 363rd FG on the P-51 Mustang Airplane.  Shortly after D-Day he arrived in France and travelled through Belgium, Luxembourg Holland and Germany before the end of the war.  Recalled to active duty for the Korean conflict.

    Occupation:  Eldorado Post Office after war;  Grocery store owner; Army Corp engineers;  Real Estate.

    Memberships:  First Baptist Church, Eldorado, IL; First Congregational Church, Highland, IL;  50-year Member Masonic Lodge #583, Highland, IL;  25 year member Highland VFW Post 5694;  A member of American Legion Post #439 and the Lions Club.

    VISITATION:  4:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, Dec. 28th @ Meridith Funeral Home, Highland and 10:00 AM to 12 Noon Friday, Dec. 29th @ Watson F.H. Eldorado, IL.

    FUNERAL:  Friday, December 29, 2007 @ 12:00 Noon @ Watson Funeral Home, Eldorado, IL with the Rev. Arthur Foster, First Baptist Church, Eldorado, IL officiating;  Interment in Lindale Cemetery, Eldorado, IL;

    Memorials:  Hospice of Southern IL and Highland Lions Club.
