    Robert L. “Bob” Baer, 70, of Highland, IL, died, Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital.

    Bob was born February 28, 1948, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, to Aloys and Mary Jane (nee Waltrip) Baer. On May 4, 1968, he married Patricia Stoecklin at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland.

    He and his wife, Pat, owned and operated Highland Rentals from June 1977 until December 2016, when they closed its doors after 40 years of business in Highland.

    Bob was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. His favorite moments were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Bob loved fishing, woodworking and camping. He was also a big St. Louis Cardinals fan. He will be dearly missed.

    Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Pat Baer, Highland, IL; sons, Erick (Lisa) Baer, St. Rose, IL, Stephen (Elaine) Baer, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Carson, Gavynn, Nadia, Alyse, Brayden, and Adalynn; sister, Sandra (Jerry) Frey, FL; several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloys and Mary Jane Baer.

    Memorials may be made to Highland High School, Mater Dei High School or Highland Area Community Foundation.

    Visitation: Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 8:00 to 9:30 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

    Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10:00 am, St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.

    Clergy: Fr. Pat Jakel, Pastor

    Interment: At a later date, St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Highland, IL

    We hope that your family can find comfort in the fact that your friends respect you all so much. Pat, I know Bob must have been so proud of all of you.     Dear Pat, Erick,Stephen and families: We were very sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. We were always happy to share time visiting with all of you when we came to town. Bob’s sense of humor and wit was always fun times.
    Brad enjoyed talking with Bob about fishing and told Bob that if we lived closer we would have to do some serious fishing. We hope that all of you can find comfort in the good memories that you have shared with Bob.
