      Jerry R. Baucom, 78, of Highland, IL, died Sunday, September 27, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.

      Jerry was born January 4, 1942, to Russell and Noveta (nee Rogers) Baucom in Collinsville, IL. On June 1, 1964, he married Judy Lucas in Washington Park, IL.

      After high school, he joined the Navy and served for 3 years before coming home and meeting the love of his life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jerry was all about his kids and grandkids. He was a friend to many and never met a stranger; always taking care of others. Quite the musician, he enjoyed playing the piano and guitar for his family. Jerry also loved to tell jokes and watch boxing.

      Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Noveta Baucom; brothers and sisters.

      He is survived by his spouse, Judy Baucom, Highland, IL; children, Amy (significant other Todd Hill) McCord, Highland, IL and Laurie (Marshall) Rice, Troy, IL; grandchildren, Kyle Rice and Collin McCord; brother, Bill (Beth) Baucom, of Ohio; sisters, Shirley (Earl) Carton, Girard, IL, and Helen Link, Collinsville, IL; several nieces and nephews.

      No services are scheduled.

      Judy. This is Thelma Howerton Preston from our Jr High and HS days as teens. I am so sorry about your loss of Jerry. I just got curious and googled you and Jerry’s Obit came up.
