    Helen E. (nee Huene) Haukap, 92, of Highland, IL, died Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Faith Care Center, Highland, IL.

    Helen was born on February 26, 1925, to Edward and Eugenia (nee Grawe) Huene, in Bartelso, IL. On June 9, 1953, she married Lee Haukap at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Bartelso, IL.

    She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a past officer of St. Anne’s Altar Society.

    Helen was a stay at home Mom who raised seven children. She volunteered at bingos, Kirchenfests, retirement homes, and the hospital’s prayer vigil. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and reading. She also loved dogs, enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and dancing on Saturday nights.  She also liked to watch local softball games.

    She is survived by her Children, Colette (Wayne) Schuetz, Staunton, IL, Randy (Peggy) Haukap, Alhambra, IL, Neil Haukap, Belleville, IL, Elene (Greg) Rankin, Mt Vernon, IL, Dean (Carla) Haukap, Dawson, IL, Dana (Ken) Barker, Highland, IL; Grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Schuetz, Richelle (Chad) Ernst, Jared (Nicole) Haukap, Noah (Samantha) Haukap, Chris Haukap, Sara (Kirk) Simpson, Ashley (Kevin) Withrow, Cody (fiancé Katie Clark) Rankin, Patrick Haukap, Kyla Haukap, Morgan Barker, Brett Barker; Great Grandchildren, Denny Schuetz, Camie, Taylor, & Blake Ernst, Ty & Owen Simpson, Roman, Emerey & Delia Withrow, Olivia Haukap, Steiger Rankin, Rylan Pierce; several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her Parents, Edward and Eugenia Huene; Husband, Leroy “Lee” Haukap, Son, Brian Haukap; Brothers, Julius Huene, Al Huene, Leo Huene, Dick Huene, Vince Huene; Sister, Eleanor Jantzen.

    Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.

    Visitation: Wednesday, February 7, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 8:00 to 9:30 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

    Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, February 8, 2018, 10:00 am, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.
