    Edna Wilhelmina (Nee Rochell) Smith, 91, of Swansea, IL, formerly of Lebanon, IL, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

    Edna was born June 23, 1919 to Herman and Elizabeth (Nee Quitmeyer) Rochell in Lebanon, IL.  On October 10, 1944 she married Carl Smith, Sr., at St. Paul E & R Church, Lebanon, IL.

    She was a member of St. Paul UCC, Lebanon, IL, and St. Paul Quilters and was a lifelong quilter.  She liked playing cards, Bingo, reading and playing games with her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

    Edna is survived by: her husband, Carl Smith, Sr., Swansea, IL, formerly of Lebanon, IL; 3 Daughters, Diana Bohanon, Lebanon, IL, Patricia (Bob) Moss, Ashville, NC, Kathryn (Terry) Rutherford, Louisville, TN; 1 Sister-in-law, Dorothy DeWiese, Carlyle, IL; 1 Daughter-in-law, Betty Smith, Lebanon, IL; 10 Grandchildren, Lee (Barry) Smith, Laura (Tim) Brennan, Terry (KathyJo) Rutherford, Jr., Rebecca Rutherford, Rachel (Mike) Holdedge, Michelle (Asa) Turner, Kimberly Hoetswarth, Richard Smith, Carley (Randall) Chambers; 19 Great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents, Herman and Elizabeth Rochell; 3 Brothers, Herman Rochell, Robert Rochell, Edward Rochell; 1 Sister, Viola Huller; 1 Son, Carl Smith, Jr.; 1 Grandson, James “J.R.” Smith; 2 Sisters-in-law, Velma Rochell, Forrest “Mickey” Rochell; 1 Brother-in-law, Marcellus Huller.

    Visitation: Tuesday, August 31, 2010, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Lebanon, IL.

    Funeral:  Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul UCC.

    Clergy:  Rev. Dr. Donald Wagner, Pastor

    Interment:  St. Joseph Cemetery, Lebanon, IL
