William T. Wright, 87, of Lebanon, IL, born October 29, 1925 died September 17, 2013 with his family by his side. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Louise Wright, and brother, Walter T. Wright.
Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Anne, nee Potter, Wright; daughter Jayne (Matthew Rigney) Wright of St. Louis, MO; son, Thomas (Jacqueline) Wright of Fairview Heights, IL; sister, Patricia Rodriguez of Lebanon, IL and brother, John (Bonnie) Wright of Lebanon, IL along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was born and raised in Lebanon, IL where he attended elementary and high school. He joined the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the European and Asian/South Pacific theaters of WWII. He received his B.A. in 1950 from McKendree College and began teaching history/social studies and coaching basketball at Lebanon Community High School. In 1951 he completed his Masters Degree in School Administration from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He served as Lebanon Community High School principal from 1954 to 1979 when he was named Superintendent of Lebanon School District #9 until his retirement in 1986. His skills as a teacher and storyteller were only matched by his skills of management and negotiation, skills which were tempered by his honesty and commitment and dedication to the students of Lebanon, IL.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff and administration of Cedar Ridge Rehab Center, Lebanon IL for their kind efforts and tender care.
Burial at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery will be private at a later date.
