William R. “Bob” Jenner, 92, of Pocahontas, IL, was called to his heavenly home Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

He was born on March 21, 1932, in Beaucoup, IL. When he was seven, he was adopted by his loving parents, Marion and Mary (nee Cochran) Jenner. On November 27, 1954, he married the love of his life Loretta Ward at the Methodist Church in Pocahontas, IL.

Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was in the US Army Corps of Engineers and stationed in Korea. Throughout the duration of his service, he received many accolades, including the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon with 2 Bronze Campaign Stars, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

After serving his country Bob returned to his lifelong occupation as a livestock and grain farmer. In addition to his farming, he also served as a Trustee on the Old Ripley Township Board. In his free time Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to ride his Polaris ATV around the farm. He enjoyed travelling with his wife, Loretta, to Branson, MO, and cherished their 50th anniversary trip to Hawaii.

Above all else, family and the Lord were the most important thing to Bob. He loved to spend time with his wife and children, and adored doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also attended the Pleasant Mound Baptist Church. He was a treasured husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mary Jenner; grandson, Ryan Mueller; sister, Marie (Steve) Garrison.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Loretta Jenner; daughters, Carolyn (Tom) Spann, Connie (Mike) Mueller, Cathy (Randy) Grizzle, Carla (Chuck) Parr; grandchildren, Courtney (Reed) Koester, Josh Grizzle, Christopher Parr, Colin Parr; great-grandchildren, Charley, Rosalie, and Jay Koester; brother, Joe (Ina) Jenner; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.

When Bob and Loretta started coming to Pleasant Mound they were such a joy. Loretta and her specials and piano playing blessed each service. To shake Bob’s hand was a real handshake! He didn’t seem to want to let go, Which showed me how much he loved life and appreciated people. Jim and I always loved sharing St. Louis Cardinal stories…the bad and the good. Bob was a blessed man and a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jim & Tina Leefers

Uncle Bob was a great man. Jennifer and I used to come to IL in the summer. Some of our best memories (from childhood) were made on Auntie&Uncle Bob’s farm. I loved getting up early with him to feed the hogs. He always had a smile on his face and big hugs. He would take us, in the pick up to grab a piglet so Jen and I could play with it up at the house. I remember how fast he ran to escape the angry sow that would chase him. I loved him very much. Auntie took such great care of him, always mindful if his health. I’m grateful he had her to help keep him healthy all those years.

Bob was a kind and gentle soul, but he still woud get a twinkle in his eye sometimes if he wanted to tease Loretta! They truly had a wonderful loving Christ centered relationship. And Bob was crazy about his girls and they, of course, loved their Daddy. He always made folks wecomed at the farm…especially when our St. Louis relatives came to visit enjoying the pigs and tractor rides with Bob! The hayrides and bonfires were so much fun and he was always accomodating. I guess what I’m trying to say is he had no enemies that I know of and he was generous and kind. He will be missed. Thank goodness he is Jesus arms with those gone before. He was loved.
