    William P. “Bill” Gleason, 73, longtime resident of Bloomington-Normal and more recently of Highland, IL, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021, at St. John’s Medical Center, Springfield.

    Bill was born March 24, 1948, to William F. and Margaret M. (nee Cunningham) Gleason.  He married Bonnie Ego on September 9, 1972, in Normal, IL.

    Bill retired from State Farm Insurance after 37 years.

    Always a loving father and grandfather, he was his daughters’ and then grandsons’ biggest fan, watching countless games and performances.  Bill was passionate about golf; playing, watching and studying the game at every opportunity.

    The Holy Trinity St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry was near and dear to Bill’s heart. Following in his late parents’ footsteps he was a dedicated volunteer for many years.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Jim & Rosemary Ego; brothers-in-law, Steve Ego & Kevin Kirkwood.

    He is survived by his wife; daughters, Kris (Knick) Reed and Kerry Beth Gleason, both of Highland, IL; grandsons, Alex, Cole & Josh Reed; and sister, Peggy Kirkwood of Bloomington, IL.

    Memorial Visitation:  Tuesday, September 28, 2021, 4:00 to 6:30 pm, concluding with a 6:30 pm rosary service, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

    Private family Funeral Mass will be held in Bloomington, with burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal, IL.  Arrangements will be provided by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
