William L. “Bill” Kohlbrecher, 73, of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Bill was born February 2, 1943, to Edward and Josephine (Nee Kruep) Kohlbrecher at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL. On October 12, 1996, he married Sandra Kohler in Highland, IL.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, Highland Sportsman’s Club, Ozark Fly Fishers and Federation of Fly Fishers.
Bill attended St. Paul High School and was the first employee of Kaiser Drug Store, Highland, IL. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa and brother. He was an avid fisherman, loved fly fishing and was a fly tyer. He liked to cook, enjoyed fixing things and would give a stranger the shirt off his back. After 41 years of service, Bill retired from General Motors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Josephine Kohlbrecher; a brother, David Kohlbrecher; a nephew, Brent Kohlbrecher.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kohlbrecher, Highland, IL; children, Carol (Roger) Weiss, Pierron.IL, Billie (Significant other Jeff Hofmann) Singleton, Marine, IL, Tonya (Chris) Downing, Cary, NC; 5 grandchildren, Abby Jo, Miranda & Maggie Weiss, Josie Singleton & Luke Hofmann; 3 brothers, Tom (Claudia) Kohlbrecher, Mountain Home, AR, Ed (Marilyn) Kohlbrecher, Bonita Springs, FL, Bob (significant other Phyllis Johnson) Kohlbrecher, Highland; one sister, Susie (Gaye) Michael, Highland; Many Nieces and Nephews who loved him.

Visitation: Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, January 13, 2017, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
