William “Harlan” Watson, 88, of Springport, IN, formally of Cisne, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Henry Community Health in New Castle, IN.
Harlan was born May 5, 1934, to George C. and Alice M. (Kiger) Watson in Cisne, IL. He married Joan Katherine Bolbecher on January 16, 1971, in Indianapolis, IN. at First Presbyterian Church.
Harlan was a farmer growing up and then worked in the oil fields. After college he served in the Army Reserves for six years. Harlan then moved to Indiana in the early 1960’s. A very hard worker his entire life, he ran a tight ship. no excuses to be had. He was a good dad, knew how to be tough and when to be soft and very funny. Harlan was part of the Sertoma of East Indianapolis. He and his wife volunteered at Riley Children’s Hospital on IUPUI for a number of years. He made friends very easily and never knew a stranger.
Harlan is survived by his children, Kim (Mark) Hokanson, of Springport, IN and Michael Watson and a grandson,son of Rob and several nieces and nephews.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan Watson, sons Steven J. Watson and Rob C. Watson, brother Leland Watson and a sister Phyllis Watson.
Visitation: Saturday, January 28, 2023, 1:30-2:30 pm at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home in Cisne, IL.
Funeral Service: Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:30pm at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home in Cisne, IL.
Burial: will follow in Cisne Cemetery. With military honors provided by Anthony Wayne American Legion Post 176 and the Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.
In lieu of flowers a memorial may be given to Riley’s Children’s Hospital or SERTOMA of East Indianapolis and will be accepted at the funeral home.
