WILLIAM DENNIS BOWLES, 88, of Cisne, Illinois passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.
Dennis was born in Cisne, Illinois December 27, 1931 to Ralph and Corrine (Roush) Bowles Hooper. He married Verla Pauline Woolever August 6, 1952 at Bluford, Illinois. She preceded him in death July 15, 2002.
Dennis was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a deacon and member of the Cisne Christian Church. He worked at Farmers Grocery Store and Lemon’s Sign Service. Later, he owned his own business, Bowles Sign Service in Cisne. When he retired from that, he drove a school bus for Cisne schools. Then, later became a rural mail carrier. He was a very artistic man who loved to go fishing.
Dennis is survived by three sons Rick (Shelley) Bowles of Johnsonville, Illinois, Ron (Patti) Bowles of Fairfield, Illinois, and Randy Bowles of Cisne, Illinois; seven grandchildren Heather Backstrom, Ryan Bowles, Kevin Bowles, Tiffany Bowles, Dustin Bowles, Adam Bowles and Ashli (Bowles) Legg; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers Donnie Bowles of Alaska and Tony Bowles of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his mother and father, wife Verla, one grandchild, one sister Trilba Jean and one brother Orin Bowles.
Graveside service will be 1:00 pm Monday, September 28, 2020 at Cisne Cemetery. Everyone attending the service is asked to go directly to the cemetery. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and will be accepted at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.
