William “Bill” Ray Henson, 78, of Cisne, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Villas of Holly Brook Memory Care in Mt. Carmel, IL.
Bill was born September 18, 1946, in Mt. Vernon, IL. to Leonard and Mary Lou (Cornstuble) Henson. He married Cheryl Spicer on August 7, 1966, at Wayne City United Methodist Church.
Bill was in the Air Force from 1966 to 1972. He continued serving his country from 1972 to 2003 in the reserves and was employed at Scott Air Force Base. In his spare time, he loved farming, hunting, mowing and just being outdoors, his other hobbies included watching Nascar races and wildlife photography.
He attended Wayne City United Methodist Church, was a member of Johnsonville Ruritan Club and American Legion.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Cisne, IL; brother Kirby Henson of Keenes, IL; son, Travis (Tina) Henson of Niceville, FL; his granddaughter, Paige (Daniel) Becking; two great granddaughters Blair and Brin; and several special nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter, Nikol Henson, and brother, Randy Henson.
Visitation: Will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne City, IL.
Funeral Services: Will be held at 11:00 am at the church.
Burial: Will follow in Bailey Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Anthony Wayne American Legion Post #176 and the Wayne County American VFW Post #4535.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Memory of Bill may be given to the Young Professionals Agriculture Fund at the Wayne County Farm Bureau and will be accepted at the church on the day of the services or at the funeral home.
