    Willard B. Perkins, Sr., 87, of Pocahontas, IL, died Monday, October 31, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.

    He was born April 16, 1924 to Bryan and Ethel (nee Stapleton) Perkins, in Cairo, IL.  On May 8, 1953 he married Mildred Harmon in Cairo, IL.

    Willard served in the Army during WW II, in the European Theatre of Operations with the 687th Ordinance Company.

    He was a laborer with Local 100, East St. Louis, IL, for 50 years.  He liked to go hunting and fishing with his 2 boys.  He enjoyed bowling when he was younger.  He played euchre and pool.  He played Uno with his grandchildren.  He loved spending time with his family and his special friend Edna.

    He is survived by 3 children, Brenda (Larry) Harnetiaux, Greenville, IL, Willard B. (Lori) Perkins, Jr., Pocahontas, IL, David (Lynn) Perkins, Greenville, IL; 8 grandchildren, Tammy Harnetiaux, Tanya Harnetiaux, Toni (Jon) Pulaski, Scott Perkins, Joel Perkins, Kristi Maples, J.D. Perkins, Kyle Perkins; 4 great-grandchildren, Cadence Perkins, Haley Maples, Marissa Maples, Eli Maples; special friend Edna Clanton.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan and Ethel Perkins; his wife, Mildred Perkins; 1 sister, Lorene Beard; 1 brother, Harold Perkins.

    Visitation: Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL
