Voris “Dean” Thomason, 67, of Browns, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at his residence in Browns, Illinois, surrounded by his family.

Dean was born June 28, 1956 in Fairfield, Illinois to Voris G. and Florence Marie (Jones) Thomason.

Dean was a member of the Browns Fire Department and was former chief for several years. He served on the Browns Village Board, served on the 911 Board in the initial startup of that agency. He was a tool and die maker for over thirty years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting golfing, he was an avid outdoorsman. He loved going on family outings and dearly loved his family and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine McKenzie; a brother Don Thomason; his father & mother; his father in law & mother in law; a sister in law; and two brothers in law.

Dean is survived by his wife, Melinda (Ewing) Thomason; children, Elizabeth (Tristan) Brock-Jones, Joshua Thomason, and Jena (Marc) Berberich; grandchildren, Miles, Hallie, Kadence, Nora and Daxten; and brothers, Ron, Jack, Brad and Jerry Thomason.

Visitation: Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home, Albion, Illinois.

Service: Saturday, March 9, 2024, 11:00 AM, at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home, Albion, Illinois.

There will be no graveside services.

Those attending services for Voris “Dean” Thomason are encouraged to dress casually, as Dean would appreciate casual attire.

Clergy: Kenny Bailey

Interment: Browns Cemetery

Memorials in the name of Dean Thomason can be given to the Browns Fire Department or Browns Cemetery.

      I am sorry to hear of Dean’s passing. i have known him and his brothers for many years. I have fond memories of times with Dean and his brother, Jack who I have been friends with for many years.
