Virginia T. Cureton, nee Krause, 86, of Pocahontas, IL died December 8, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Chicago, IL, November 9, 1922 to Frank and Florence (Fregeau) Krause. In 1942 she married Donald Ray Cureton in El Cajon, CA, and he preceded her in death March 15, 2001.
Survived by: 1 son, Donald W. Cureton, Pocahontas, IL; 1 daughter, Leslie A. (Peter) Dubiel, Watseka, IL. 6 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, and one great, great, grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also preceded in death by parents, 2 brothers, James Krause and Frank Krause, Jr. 1 sister, Ellen Gorman.
Virginia was a homemaker, but also worked with her aunt operating the Dixie Snack Bar in Harvey, IL; worked in Loan Dept, First Mutual Bank of Harvey and had also worked as a Rosie the Riveter during WWII. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Pocahontas, IL, Bond County Senior Citizens, and the Bond County Extension.
VISITATION: Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Meridith Funeral Home in Pocahontas, IL.
FUNERAL MASS: Friday, 10:00 A.M. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Pocahontas, IL with Fr. Carlos Bohorquez, Pastor, officiating.
BURIAL: Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, IL
Memorials may be offered to Alzheimers, Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
