Vincent A. Hogg, 88, of Lebanon, IL died Friday, December 29, 2017, at his home.
Vincent was born December 15, 1929, to Frank Andrew and Mary (nee Schaefer) Hogg, in Mascoutah, IL. On April 19, 1955, he married Mary L. Mueller at St. George Catholic Church.
Vince showed his Christian faith through his actions. He loved his family and God. Vince served in the Army in Korea then married his wife, a marriage that lasted 62 years.
He had a quiet tenderness for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He went to his children’s games and activities, umpired all over the area, and went on trips and camping adventures. He played card games, brought vegetables home from his garden, and gifted his family with puzzles. He worked a second job to buy Christmas presents for them.
Vince worked for the US Post Office for over 30 years. He then started volunteering in the church and community. He had a passion for helping others. He was a trustee at St. Joseph’s, treasurer of St. Vincent De Paul Society, and driver for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed standing uptown at the square for the Tootsie Roll Fund raiser for the Knights of Columbus, and welcomed many visitors at the Lebanon Visitor’s Center.
