Vernon L. Christ, 65, of Lebanon, IL, died Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Cedar Ridge Health & Rehab Center, Lebanon, IL.
Vernon was born on August 18, 1952, to Oliver and Amelia (nee Lebert) Christ in E. St. Louis, IL. On Nov 30, 1979, he married Sherry Winterrowd at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lebanon, IL.
Vernie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lebanon, IL, Knights of Columbus, O’Fallon, IL, Lebanon Singing Society, and Trustee of Horner Park. In his early years, he was a guitarist for the band, The Revels. He saw much of the US while motorcycle riding with his friends. He tended bar at Ron’s Lounge before he started working at Christ Truck Service in 1971. He became an owner with his brothers, Donald and Ronald, in 1978.
He had a big heart, was very forgiving and saw good in everyone--he always had a warm smile and infectious laugh. He was quite a prankster and jokester, with a good sense of humor. He shared his love of rock n roll music with his family and friends.
He loved and adored his family and his dogs
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Christ, Lebanon, IL; children, Jenn (David Grzenia) Christ, Recklinghausen, Germany, and Tim (Patricia) Christ, Lebanon, IL; grandchildren, Linnea Grzenia, Alyson Brown, Natalie Christ, and another due in September; brother, Ron (Joan) Christ, Trenton, IL; Sister-in-Law, Elizabeth Christ, Lebanon, IL; Brother-in-Law, Bruce (Claudia) Winterrowd, Naperville, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great, great nieces and nephews; cousins; and a Loving Dog, Cooper
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Amelia Christ; brother, Donald Christ; nephew, Joseph Christ; Parents-in-Law, Lewis and Dorothy Winterrowd; brother-in-Law, Terry Winterrowd.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Visitation: Thursday, August 9, 2018, 3:00 to 8:00 pm, and Friday, August 10, 2018, 8:00 to 10:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lebanon, IL.
