  • Full Obituary

On August 23rd, 2023, another young, beautiful life has been taken from us due to addiction. Trisha Bernice Wallace, 29 of East Alton, IL, lost her battle with opioid addiction.

Trisha was a beautiful soul that loved to laugh. She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. What she enjoyed most in her life was being a mother to her four girls: Aubree, 10; Ahna, 7; Emma, 6; and baby Layla, 2.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Herbert and Bernice Howard; grandfather, John Doty; and grandmother, Delores Richmond.

Trisha is survived by her 4 children; her mother, Cheri Grant; birth father, Ricky Wallace; father, James Doty Sr.; second mother, Diane Holland; siblings, Jennifer Ann Strickland, Ricky (Sammi) Wallace, Deborah Jo, James Doty, Jr., Rebecca (Andy Perez) Doty; 2 nieces; 5 nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving friends.

Trisha was instilled into the backbone of our family and her loss is a tragic and difficult one for us. Trish was not always fighting her battles. She was a fun, loving, spontaneous, outgoing, life of the party, big personality, dress up no matter the occasion, type of woman. She genuinely enjoyed her time spent with her children and family.

Please remember Trisha for the beauty she was and not for the demons she had. If love could’ve saved her, she would have lived forever. As we lay our beloved family member to rest, please take her story and spread awareness. Drugs will destroy everything you love.

If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, it is never too late to ask for help. The 24/7 Substance Abuse and Mental Health National Hotline is 1-800-662-HELP(4357)

Any donations or memorials can be sent to Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, or directly to her mother Cheri Grant to help cover costs of the funeral expenses.

To say I was stunned at the passing of Trisha would be an understatement. Being a mentor at Fontebella brought me into up close and personal contact with her, she was a joy to know, cocky, quick witted and full of life. Walking into a room proclaiming that she was a natural beauty would elicit giggles and eye rolls for everyone in the room; but we all knew she was most definitely telling the truth. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. Wonderful memories will live in our hearts for eternity. God bless her family with peace and comfort knowing that they will meet in a better place.
