Timothy Brian Yates, 78. of West Salem, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024 as a result of an automobile accident.

Tim was born on August 9, 1945 to Colonel C. and Bernice Yates in Olney, Illinois.

He was a member of the United States Air Force, serving his country from 1963-1967. He was a member of the Zion Church in West Salem, Illinois; the Albion American Legion; Albion VFW, and Albion Moose Lodge. He worked at Champion Laboratories in the warehouse for 36 years. He loved billiards and motorcycles – but most of all he loved to visit and make friends, of which he had many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Phil Yates (1995) and Robert Yates (1996).

Tim is survived by his brother, John (Rory) Yates; four nephews, Michael, Danny, Landon and Logan Yates; a niece, Susan Beth; and several great nieces and nephews. The largest group of survivors were Tim’s friends.

Memorials in the name of Tim Yates can be given to the West Salem Senior Citizens.

    Prayers for all the family. Worked with Tim many years at Champ & I can say that without a doubt he was great to work with! He was also quite a character…lol.
    Rest in peace, Tim. You’re remembered.

    I first met Timback in the days of Champion Labs. He was always very kind, helpful, and always had a smile to give. He will definitely be missed.
