Thomas A. “Tom” Clayton, 70, of Pocahontas, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
He was born on August 4, 1954, in Highland, IL, to Gerald and Martha (nee Burkhalter) Clayton.
Tom has lived in Pocahontas his entire life. He attended Greenville High School, then enlisted in the military. He served his country for four years in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1977, where he did two combat tours. Later, Tom worked for Artex International in the dye department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Martha Clayton and his brother, Jerry Clayton, Jr.
Tom is survived by his siblings, Eldon (Sherry) Clayton, Gene (April) Clayton, Nancy Traub, Carol (Nick) Clayton-Gregory, Kim May, Fred (Molly) Clayton; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
