      Sue Carter, 73, of Albion, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Fairfield, IL.

      She was born November 18, 1948, to Lloyd and Nadine (Roosevelt) Gumbrell, in Olney, IL. On December 31, 1965, she married the love of her life, Roy Carter, in Albion, IL.

      Sue was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Albion and a member of the Albion Moose Lodge.  Graduating in 1966, she was very close to her fellow Lions and celebrated often. She never knew a stranger, always had a smile on her face and liked to be on the go.  She was close to her sisters and you would see them often together.  She loved to cook and had a dinner on the table every night for her family. She liked to read and visit with people.  Sue was a natural care giver, always willing to help and give rides to friends and family to appointments.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Nadine Gumbrell; husband, Roy Carter; son, Darrell Carter; brother, Dick Gumbrell; sister, Diane Wilson; brother-in-law, Darrell McKibben.

      She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Evan) Bare, Albion, IL; sisters, Joyce Gumbrell, Blairsville, IN, Janet McKibben, Ellery, IL; grandchildren, Kevin (fiance’ Dionna Roosevelt) Pickering, Jack Mecum; great-grandchild, Mya Pickering; several nieces and nephews, special friends; Cheryl Taylor and Jolene Knight.

      Celebration of Life service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2022, at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home, Albion.

      Interment at Graceland Cemetery will be at later date.

      So sorry to hear of Sue passing. She was a beautiful, kind and loving lady inside and out. I remember all the talks and laughter we shared when I lived in Albion. You will definitely be missed sweet lady.
