Sean Patrick Riggins, SGT., US A, Ret'd., 26, of Highland, IL, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Jefferson Barracks V A Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
He was born December 18, 1984 to Paul J. and Cynthia Sue (nee Hogan) Riggins, at Oliver C. Anderson, Maryville, IL
Sean was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, and V F W Post 5694, Highland.
After High School Sean attended college at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. While there he joined the R O T C program, and then the National Guard. He was called to active duty in November 2005 for the US Army. He rose to the rank of Sergeant before being diagnosed with G B M Brain Cancer in August 2006 and returned home.
Sean was an enthusiastic athlete who played and coached soccer, football, hockey, and bowling. He was especially passionate about KSU athletics and St. Louis Blues Hockey. He was an avid hunter and all around outdoorsman. In his free time with family and friends he enjoyed cooking and treasured his time with his nieces and nephew.
He is survived by his Parents, Sue (John) Clark, Breese, IL, Joe Riggins, Grantfork, IL; his Grandmother, June Riggins, Edwardsville, IL; 2 Sisters and 1 Brother, Heather (Brent) Korte, Highland, IL, Matthew Riggins, Highland, IL, Whitney (Marty) Landmann, Alhambra, IL; 2 Step-Brothers, Kevin Clark, St. Louis, MO, Brian Clark, Imperial, MO; 2 Nieces and 1 Nephew, Ashlynn and Brenden Korte, Mackenzie Landmann; Many Aunts and Uncles and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather, Charles Riggins; Maternal Grandparents, John Hogan and Donna Hogan.
Memorials may be made to the Mint Juleps Relay for Life Team.
