Scott A. Manville of Highland, IL passed away on May 22, 2024 at the age of 62.
He was born September 29, 1961 in Highland to James and Mary (nee Merkel) Manville. Scott grew up in Highland, graduating from Highland High School in 1980. He went on to attend Belleville Area College, from which he graduated the police academy. After graduation, he went on to work as an officer for the city of Highland from September 1983 until his retirement in 2009.
Although he was officially retired, he never stopped serving his community. Scott worked in Worden as the chief of police.
In 2019 he thought he would get a dose of retirement and move to Florida for a few years. While in Florda, he didn’t quite understand sitting around and relaxing was a part of retirement. He would continue to serve the community that he was a part of by working for the US MARSHALLs as security for the federal court houses. Then his grandchildren were born, and his priorities changed. Then is when he moved back to Highland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and James Manville, as well as his brother Tom.
He is survived by his son, Nick (Alyson) Manville and nephews Craig (Amber) Manville, Tim (Ashley) Manville, and Blake (Maria) Manville. Always remembered by grandsons James and Simon, as well as great nieces Brynlee and Emery and great nephews Camden, Landen, Barrett, and Lane.
Scott loved the outdoors, so much as he had a permanent camping site and recently purchased a 5th wheel to do over the road traveling. He will be remembered for his quick-witted humor, eagerness to help others, and love for his family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Meridith Funeral Home.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Hospital NICU, in honor of his grandsons.
