Samuel “Sam” Gill, 58, of Cisne, IL passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at his residence in Cisne, IL.
Sam was born January 2, 1964, at Geneva, IL to Nelson and Kay (Allison) Gill. He married Sheila (Ray) on January 27, 1999, in Fairfield, IL and she survives.
Sam was in the Marine Corps and served his country prior to and during Desert Storm.
Sam worked at North American Lighting in Flora, IL, for 25 years as a technician. He was a loving husband, good father, grandparent and enjoyed spending time with family. Sam enjoyed fishing, shooting and was always the first person to pitch in and help if something was broken, He was very humble, hardworking, and willing to help, but did not ask for help himself.
Sam is survived by his wife, Sheila Gill Cisne, IL; his father, Nelson (Susie) Gill, Mt. Erie, IL; four sons, Alan (Amanda) Gill, Cisne, IL, Samuel Gill, Lawrenceville, IL, Chris Johnson, Peoria, IL and Charlie (Jennifer Weedman) McCleary, Cisne, IL; a daughter, Jessica Johnson, Geff, IL; four brothers, Joseph (Michele) Gill, Carterville, IL, Carl (LeCosta) Gill, Crossville, TN, Patrick McKinney, Cisne, IL and Shane Gill, Cisne, IL; ten grandchildren, Zaine, Leighton, Sophia, Ethan, Joey, Eli, Maddie, Thadeus, Emmitt and Ellison; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his mother, Edna Kay McKinney.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2022, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday March 7, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military rites.
Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
