Mother Ruth Ann Edwards (nee Thomas), 88, of Lebanon, IL, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her residence.
She was born October 25, 1923, to Patrick and Leonia Thomas, in Lexington, MS. On September 5, 1954 she married Robert Edwards in Caruthersville, MO.
She was a domestic worker for the Pfeffer Family in Lebanon, IL for many years. She was a private sitter at Nursing Home for several years.
She was a member of Pentacostal Power Church, Lebanon, IL, where she was a former 1st Lady of the Church and active in Missionary. She was a sponsor for “Feed the Children” program at the Church. She was an active supporter of St. Jude Hospital. She was active in Pastors aid program of the Church. She was also active in “Willing Workers” at the Church. She was a virtuous woman and good Mother. She had an
“open door kitchen policy”. And she was a foster parent.She is survived by 9 children, Sylvester (Rita) Edwards, New Orleans, LA, Rev. Doris Edwards, Lebanon, IL, Missionary Janet Brooks, Belleville, IL, Brenda (Michael) Ledet Ville Platte, LA, Robert Edwards, Jr., Lebanon, IL, Evangelist Delorice Edwards, Belleville, IL, Darlene Baker, Belleville, IL, Charles (Debra) Luster, O’Fallon, IL, Mark Luster, Cahokia, IL; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Leonia Thomas; her husband, Bishop Robert Edwards; 1 son, Emmitt Edwards; 1 daughter, Ruth Ann Berry; several brothers and sisters.
Visitation: Sunday, July 15, 2012, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Pentacostal Power Church, Lebanon, IL.
