Ronald D. “Ron” Farley, Sr., 84, of Pocahontas, IL, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese, IL.
He was born on May 20, 1940, in Pocahontas, IL, to John and Golda (nee Tipsword) Farley. On October 1, 1960, Ron married Betty J. Knebel at the Pocahontas United Methodist Church in Pocahontas, IL.
Ron has lived in Pocahontas his entire life and worked for the Local 100 out of East St. Louis, IL for 50 plus years until his retirement. He was a member of KVS Club in Keyesport, IL, where he enjoyed trap shooting. Ron loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, and reloading shotgun shells. You could find him every morning at Funderburks enjoying a cup of coffee and doing his scratch-offs. He was a great storyteller, had a goofy personality, and adored his yorkies. A loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Ron will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Golda Farley; wife, Betty J. Farley; son, Ronald D. “Biscuit” Farley, Jr.; siblings, Robert G. Farley, John “Jack” Farley, Francis D. “Frank” Farley, Betty J. Clayton, Helen J. Teter Gibson, Lucille “Lucy” Mills, and a sister in infancy.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Kalonie “Connie” (Lowell) Caulk; grandchildren, Kaleigh (Aaron) Korte, Logan Caulk; great grandchildren, Charlee Korte, Preslee Korte, Archer Korte; many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the family.
