Roger A. Young, 83, of Highland, IL, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.
He was born July 5, 1931 to Edwin and Gladys (Nee Aebischer) Young at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.
Roger was a member of Highland Country Club, Highland Optimist Club, American Legion Post 439 and Moose Lodge. Golf was his life. He treasured teaching his son, daughter and grandchildren the game he loved so much. He supported his family when they played by attending all of their matches. To the end, he never missed a game.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Gladys Young; his brother, Hayden Young; brother-in-law, Bill Winkler.
He is survived by his children, Roger E. (Lisa) Young, Pocahontas, IL, Jennay (special friend, Tim Rakers) Wieter, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Alex and Allison Young, Logan and Jessie Wieter; sister, Lois Winkler, Trenton, IL; former wife, Jean Young, Highland, IL.
Memorials may be made to Moose Lodge or Highland High School Boys and Girls Golf Teams.
