Rodney G. Richards, 61, of Lebanon, IL, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
He was born June 12, 1950, to Robert and Zelis (nee Cope) Richards at the then St. Joseph Hospital, Alton, IL. On August 16, 1969 he married Rebecca Warren in Cahokia, IL.
Rodney was Minister for most of his career, at one point he was the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Lebanon, IL. He was a member of Maplewood Park Baptist Church, Cahokia, IL. He was a Boy Scout Leader when his sons were young. In his later years he and his wife took up Ballroom dancing. He enjoyed acting in plays at Looking Glass Playhouse, Lebanon, IL. He was an avid Star Trek fan.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Jean Richards, Brighton, IL; his wife, Rebecca Richards, Lebanon, IL; 3 children, Ramon (Michelle) Richards, League City, TX, Ryan Richards, Lebanon, IL, Robin (Matt) VanderKraats, Florissant, MO; 5 grandchildren, Nichelle, Erynn and Alexis Richards, Kylie Conklin, Emily Weller; 1 sister, Roberta (Terry) Wright; 1 brother, Ronald (Michelle) Richards.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
