Roberta Neal, 93, of Albion, IL, passed from this life to her heavenly home, surrounded by her family, Friday, March 25, 2022, at Oakview Heights Nursing Home, Mt. Carmel, IL.
She was born at home in West Salem, IL to Charles “Ebey” and Vera Sweet (Batson) Brant on February 10, 1929. On September 21, 1946, Roberta married Clarence Neal in Mt. Carmel, IL and he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1985. She married Ivan Oakley in 1986 and he preceded her in death.
Roberta was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Albion until her health kept her from attending. She was an officer of the Women of the Moose in Albion. Roberta was active in the Edwards County Senior Citizens.
She attended Wabash Valley Community College in Mt. Carmel, IL with her daughter, Judy, then attended Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, IL. She was one semester short of graduation when her parents were in an automobile accident which resulted in her father passing away and she never returned to school. Roberta loved to spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren playing Skip-bo, bingo, and other games. She loved to travel especially to Florida for the winters. Roberta loved Chicago Cubs baseball and was thrilled to see her Cubs win the World Series in 2016. She involved herself in real estate and developed a love of flipping houses. Roberta bought and sold many houses in Albion and West Salem. She worked at Champion Labs until her retirement in April of 1984.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Ebey and Vera Brant, husbands Clarence and Ivan, brother and sisters, Louella, Charles, and Iona.
She is survived by her children, Judy (Dan) Bosecker, Ellery, IL, John Neal, AZ; grandchildren, Kelly (Wesley) Fryman, Gina (Tony) Wissel, Matthew (Erin) Bosecker, Sam Neal, Andy Neal, Robbie Neal; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Fryman, Jenna (Jerrick) Smith, Kelcy (Taner) Carlson, Christian (Faith) Cullison, Rachel (Cole) Halberstadt, Faith (fiance’, Clint Harris) Wissel, Olivia Bosecker; great-great-grandchildren, Everli and Ansli Carlson; sister, Lois Edwards and many favorite nieces and nephews and special friend Connie Hocking and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
