Robert C. Swofford, 85, of Pocahontas, IL, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Helia Healthcare Center, Greenville, IL.
Robert was born September 23, 1927, to William L. and Stella E. (Nee Zweck) Swofford, Sr., at home in Pocahontas, IL. On June 14, 1952, he married Donna Sugg at United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL.
He worked as a laborer for Local 397 and owned and operated a Texaco station in Pocahontas, IL, for 18 years. He loved antique tractor clubs and travelled to fairs around the area. He loved live country music and would travel to Nashville, TN to The Grand Ole Opry.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Swofford, Pocahontas, IL; 2 children, Barbara Swofford Kapp, Highland, IL, David (Joyce) Swofford, Greenville, IL; 3 grandchildren, Casey (Donald, Jr.) Bassford, Luke (Amanda Reiman) Kapp, Clint (Natasha) Kapp; step-granddaughter, Lacey (Mike) Sonderegger; 2 great-grandchildren, Drexton Kapp and Jaelyn Bassford; 2 step-great-granddaughters, Noelle and Maezy Sonderegger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Stella Swofford; 1 son, Thomas Swofford; 1 brother, William L. Swofford, Jr.; 2 sisters, Marie Savage and Lucille Peck.
