      Robert “Bob” A. Long, 87, of Pocahontas, IL, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at HSHS Holy Family Hospital, Greenville, IL.

      Bob was born, March 3, 1934 to Albert Long and Shelley Mathias, in Old Ripley Township.

      Bob was a United States Army Veteran, and a Master Mason of the Gordon Lodge #473 in Pocahontas for over 50 years. He worked as a Laborer for Local #397, working mostly in road construction.  He was a kind, sweet, gentle, soft-spoken guy, who enjoyed time with his family.  He liked to listen to country music and travel.  His love of auto racing had him watching races, as well as, traveling to some, and his passion for cars also had him trading every two years for something new to drive.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert (Julia) Long and Shelley Mathias; grandparents, John & Louise Long and Frank & Viola Mathias; siblings, Henrietta (Melvin) Stewart and Alroy Long; nieces and nephew, Larry Stewart (at birth), Judith Lindley and Sharon Lindley; great great-nephew, Jacob Arter.

      He is survived by his sister, Belinda (Richard) Lachler; nieces and nephews, Shelley (Brian) Brown, Ronald Lindley, Dale Lindley, Ann (Jesse) Hinds, Matthias (Ashley) Lachler; great nieces and nephews, Sheri (Dale) Compton, Christine (Bill) Linnabary, Julie (Israel) Vargas, April (Dan) Blankenship, Suzanne (Jim) Arter, David (Shawna) Lindley, Jan (Michael) Koonce, Robert (Anna) Brown, Nichole (Tom) Spurgeon, Kayla Brown, Anna (Brenten) Althardt, Connor Brown, Abbygayle Brown, Ethan Hinds, Jacob Hinds & Kaiden Hinds.

      Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
