Richard S. “Rick/Rich” Jacob, 63, of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Rich was born August 14, 1950, to Paul C. and Mary L. (Nee Bovinett) Jacob, in E. St. Louis, IL. On July 4, 1997, he married Penny S. Daum.
Rich owned and operated Richard S. Jacob Insurance Agency with his son, David. He attended Bethel Baptist Church, Troy, IL. He was a member of St. Jacob Lions Club, Tennessee Walking Horse Association, Yellowstone Foundation and Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois.
Rich enjoyed life to the fullest, travelling wherever he wanted, trail riding, breaking and training horses, enjoying annual family reunions and time in Princeton, KY. He treasured his time at the Lake of the Ozarks, growing up he spent his summers there with his family and cousins, and he continued that throughout his life, spending as much time there as possible, with his children, grandchildren and parents. He looked forward to the next adventure and annual family reunions in Princeton, KY.
He is survived by his wife, Penny M. Jacob, Highland, IL; 3 children, David W. (Meghan) Ziegler, Highland, IL, Anne (Casey Lohman) Zarinelli, Highland, IL, John (Elle Owen) Ziegler; 4 grandchildren, Kate, Michael, and Jacob Ziegler, Blake Zarinelli; his mother, Mary L. Jacob, Troy, IL; 2 sisters, Paulette (Dan) Darlington, Collinsville, IL, Cindy (Ron) Sifford, Sullivan, IL; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Dan) Cadagin, Lauren Busiere, Bre (Allen Kruger) Vander Ark Sifford, Dustin (Sarah Paulus) Sifford.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul C. Jacob (July 26, 2013),
Memorials may be made to his grandchildren’s college fund at Scott Credit Union.
