    Ray Kent Gay, 60, of Mt. Vernon, IL, formerly of Albion, IL, passed from this life to the next on January 7, 2020 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

    Kent was born on December 18, 1959 in Evansville, IN to Gladys (Procter) and William Gay.

    He loved to travel and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Grayville.

    Kent is survived by a brother, Nile Dale (Karen) Gay of Albion; two nieces: Penny (Mark) Tennes of Mt. Carmel and Dixie (Henry) McGill of Fairfield, IL; three great-nieces: Ashley, Amelia, and April; and three great-nephews: Zachary, Shawn, and Devin.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

    Per Kent’s wishes, his body will be cremated. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

    Memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

    So sorry to hear of Kent’s passing. I went to high school with him. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
