      Randy I. Sonsoucie, 72, of Summerfield, IL, passed away, Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital.

      Randy was born March 6, 1950, to Robert J. and Mary M. (nee Missey) Sonsoucie, in rural St. Clair County, IL.  On November 15, 1969, he married Vickie Lee Green in Summerfield, IL.

      He was born and raised in St. Clair County and attended Mascoutah High School.  Randy enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970 and served for two years.  He worked for over 40 years as a mechanic for Dave Croft in Collinsville, IL.

      Randy enjoyed camping and fishing, and could often be found working in his garage on cars and trucks. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and also enjoyed watching game shows.  Randy was patient, funny, very social, and never met a stranger.  Above all he was a great dad, grandpa, and great grandpa.

      He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vickie Sonsoucie, Summerfield, IL; children, Tara (Terry) Asher, Michael Sonsoucie, Jeff (significant other, Sara) Sonsoucie; grandchildren, Tyler (significant other, Allie) Sonsoucie, Taylor (Isaac) Cruz, Tanner (significant other, Charlotte) Sonsoucie, Hannah (significant other, Andrew) Sonsoucie, Kaylee Asher; great grandson, Drake Sonsoucie; brothers, Jimmy (Tina) Sonsoucie, David (Sharon) Sonsoucie; sisters, Becky (Rick) Bates, Peggy Frisby, Diane (Scott) King; many nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Sonsoucie; brothers, Dickie Sonsoucie, Ronnie Sonsoucie, Bobby Sonsoucie; and sisters, Mary Ellen McKinley, Sharon Thompson, Sheila Kingsley.

      Memorials may be made to Washington University (for Gastroenterology Liver Research 3046-32189)

      Visitation:  Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at Meridith Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.

      Celebration of Life Luncheon will immediately follow visitation at Summerfield Lions Club.

      He was the best man I will ever know. I miss you so much already, and you will be forever the best father to ever live. I love you always and forever.

      So sorry for your loss! I’m sorry I missed the visitation and celebration of life. Randy was so nice and pleasant! A great mechanic too! He helped me a lot with my car! Hugs to all!
