Paul M. Sweitzer, Jr., 70, of Caseyville, IL, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 3, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 5, 1954, in East St. Louis, IL
Paul dedicated over 45 years of his life to Wilbert Burial Vault, where he served with compassion and integrity, helping countless families honor and remember their loved ones. His kindness and commitment left a lasting impression on the people he served and solidified his role as an upstanding pillar in the industry.
Outside of work, Paul found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He treasured every moment spent with his family, often taking them on memorable camping trips or fun-filled days at Six Flags and Holiday World. These adventures became cherished family traditions, filled with laughter and love. Nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored him in return. To his family, Paul was the cornerstone, always providing strength, warmth, and unwavering love.
Paul’s legacy is one of devotion—to his work and most importantly, to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his children; Stacey (Michael) Welker, Amanda (Kevin) Downard, Lauren (Joel) Greenley; grandchildren, Brett (Madisyn) Miller, Jonathan (Tiffany) Miller, Kyle (Alexis) Miller, Chris (Chelsea) Downard, Katie (Robby) Downard, Brooke (Nick) Miller, Leila Spataro, Jordan Greenley, Paul Sweitzer, Jr., Adan Sweitzer, Anaya Sweitzer, Alyssa Sweitzer; great-grandchildren, Savannah Miller, Ivy Miller, Hyla Miller, Matthew Downard, Maverick Miller; 4 brothers, 5 sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul M. Sweitzer, Sr.; mother, Opal Jerdon (nee Harris); son, Paul Sweitzer; siblings, Anna, Dorothy, Lucy.
