Omar L. Rehberger, 90, of Lebanon, IL, born April 12, 1920 in Lebanon, IL, entered into rest on December 24, 2010, at his home with family and friends by his side.
Mr. Rehberger was a retired dairy and grain farmer. He was blessed with many wonderful qualities, one being his smile whom many of his close friends and family say can light up a room instantly. He was a kind and caring man with a compassionate heart who loved animals and life on the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Matilda (Haas) Rehberger, his sister Mildred Witzig, a brother, Paul J. Rehberger, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Bertha Grolle, and a son-in-law, Lonnie G. Papenberg.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Doris, nee Grolle, Rehberger of Lebanon, IL, whom he married September 23, 1944; four daughters, Sue (Tom) Blankenship of Naperville, IL, Mary (John) Edwards of Hampshire, IL, Carol (Rich Schumacher) Papenberg of O’Fallon, IL, Becky (Johnny Knobeloch) Rehberger of Mascoutah, IL; grandchildren, Timothy Blankenship, Kimberly (Thompson-Edwards) Keenon, Brad Thompson, Jeff Papenberg, Michael Knobeloch, and Preston Knobeloch, a sister Cornelia Rehberger of Scotia, NY, a brother, Dr. Amos Rehberger of Brownsville, TX, a very special dog Dakota and several nieces and nephews plus many dear friends.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, The Lion’s Club of Lebanon, IL, and the Farm Bureau.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Heart Association, Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, and St. Joseph Catholic Church, 901 N. Alton, Lebanon, IL 62254.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4pm to 8pm on Monday December 27th, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 901 N. Alton, Lebanon, IL 62254.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 28th, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
