    Norma Jean Bailey, 90, of West Salem, IL, passed from this life to the next on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN.

    She was born June 3, 1928 in Marion, IL and was the daughter of Eva (Huffman) and Fred Meisenheimer. She married Robert Bailey on December 11, 1946 at the EUB Church in West Salem, and he preceded her in death on July 24, 2000.

    Norma Jean worked at Champion Labs, was a school cook at West Salem Grade School, a custodian at the Zion United Methodist Church, and helped her husband drive his Marathon bulk fuel truck. She also worked for Virgil Smith, tying fishing lures. Norma Jean may be best remembered for playing the piano and organ for over 60 years at the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem, where she was also a member.

    She is survived by one son, Robert (Linda) Bailey, Jr. of Evansville, IN; one grandson, Mark (Anne) Bailey of Indianapolis, IN; and a great-grandson, Beau Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Margaret.

    Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in West Salem. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the church with burial to follow in the Moravian Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church and envelopes will be available at the service.

    What a wonderful woman. I loved her dearly. And that laugh!!! And when she played the piano….(or organ) it was awesome. I know she’s with Bob and Margaret now. I pray for peace and comfort Bobby, Mark, and family. She was jewel.

    Such a wonderful lady. Met her & Bob during the oilfield days when they delivered fuel. They were always full of fun and laughter! Sympathy to all.

    Have so many many fond memories of this great friend and Bob. We have spent many nights with them and about 4 other couples eating, playing cards and dancing. She was such a delight to be around. Will be missed by so many. Our thoughts and prayers to the family. Norman and Louise Timberlake.
