Neil R. Speir, 70, of Albion Illinois, passed away on June 15, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

Born in Albion, Illinois on December 17, 1953, Neil was the son of Claudie and Sara Mae Speir.

Neil was a heavy equipment operator who had a career in construction. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Albion and a member of Albion VFW Post 8222.

Left to cherish Neil’s memory are his sisters, Anita (John) Downer of Fairfield, Illinois, Marilyn Longbons, Nancy (Greg) Nelson and Norma (Dave) Buckles, all of Albion, Illinois; and his brother, Howard (Janette) Speir of Pegram, Tennessee. A sister-in-law, Martha A. Speir of Albion, Illinois also survives. Neil is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Austin Speir; three brothers, Fred, Lawrence and Leroy (Martha L.) Speir; three sisters, Martha (Ron) Johnson, Marjorie (Cabot) Longbons, and Mary Ann (Leroy) West, all of Albion, Illinois.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, with a funeral service following at 1:00 pm.

      I’m so sorry for your loss I went to school with Neil I knew most of the speir

      Neil was a very good friend. He had a huge heart and was always a great conversationalist. He loved his friends and his family. I would have been at his funeral had I even known that he passed. Rest easy sweet friend!
