    Neil Barnett, 72, of Mt. Erie, IL took his first breath in Heaven on August 20, 2019 at Carmi Manor in Carmi, IL.

    He was born August 30, 1946 in Samsville, IL to Inez (Wynn) and Casey Barnett. He married Cheryl Kuhring on January 26, 1969 in Dieterich, IL and she survives.

    Neil was a Vietnam Veteran, serving from 1966 to 1968. He was a farmer and enjoyed fishing with his grandkids and restoring antique tractors.

    He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl; one daughter, Tammy (Mark) Thomason; one son, Robert Barnett; two sisters: Mary Ann Schwartzlose and Mae (Ronnie) Brandt; two brothers: Glenn Barnett and George (Margene) Barnett; six grandchildren: Robert Brown, Alicia Pearce, Anthony Webb, Eric Thomason, Trevor Thomason, and Nathan Thomason; and nine great-grandchildren.

    Neil was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Virgil, Howard, Lloyd, and Jim; two sisters: Hazel and Elinor; and a great-granddaughter, Claire Thomason.

    Visitation will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion. The funeral service will be Sunday, August 25 at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery at Samsville. Military Rites will be conducted at the graveside.

    Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Cemetery Fund, and envelopes will be available at the service.
