Charles Frederick Clayton II, 89, born February 27, 1927, in Glenarm, IL, died September 11, 2016 at Memorial Hospital - East in O’Fallon, IL.

Charlie was drafted into the US Navy in 1944 and served 2 years on Guam. He graduated from Millikin University in 1951 and began a lifelong career as a salesman in the roofing industry.  He retired from Crown C Supply at the age of 85. Even after retiring, Charlie’s lunch dates with his customers and colleagues continued as they were a source of great conversations and friendships.

Charlie enjoyed so much in life including: mowing the grass, fishing in Canada, being frugal, enjoying Friday night poker parties, listening to jazz, and above all -- hosting Sunday dinners with his family and friends.

Charlie never had a bad day, and his positive spirit will be remembered by his grandchildren, John, Tommy, Paul, Sarah, Samantha, Charles IV, and Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Charles and Vila (nee Harper) Clayton, SR; his Wife, Sally Clayton.

Charlie is survived by his Daughter, Ann (Tom) Pilackas, Lebanon, IL, Sons, Tom (Krista) Clayton, Alton, IL, Fred (Korina) Clayton, Santa Barbara, CA, and Dennis (Mary) Gathard, Seattle, WA.
