    Minnie E. "Eli" Markey, nee Norris, 95 of Pocahontas, IL died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL.  She was born September 30, 1913 to Martin and Marie (Shurtz) Norris, and they are both deceased.  She married Louis N. Markey February 17, 1935 in Valier, IL, and he also preceded her in death.

    She is survived by:  1 son - Jimmie F. (Carol) Markey of Pocahontas, IL;  3 Grandchildren - Jimmie F. Markey, II of San Antonio, TX, Michael M. (Kelly) Markey, St. Louis, MO;  Cheryl Markey, Shepardville,KY;  3 Great Grandchildren, Courtney Markey, Bloomington, IL;  Austin Markey, St. Louis, MO; Rachel Markey, St. Louis, Mo;  3 Sisters - Helen Goforth - Carbondale, IL; Frances (Frank( Yersich - Chicago, IL; Loretta Eggleston - Novato, CA;  Several Nieces and Nephews.

    Also preceded in death by one brother - Frank Norris

    She was a homemaker, but also had been a cook in the school system in Pocahontas for many years.  She was a very active member in the First United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL;  the Senior Citizens, and the White Shrine in Highland, IL.

    VISITATION:  Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Meridith Funeral Home in Pocahontas, IL.

    FUNERAL SERVICE:  Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.m. with the Rev. David Trover, Officiating.   Burial in Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, IL.

    Memorials may be offered to the First United Methodist Church.
