Michelle’s cousins, the Harrises, send their most heartfelt love and condolences to the Ripperdas for the loss of their beautiful daughter, sister, and aunt.

My favorite memory of Michelle is of spending a weekend together in Lincoln, Nebraska in a tiny little home not far from where our Uncle Keith once lived.

I brought Michelle a simple gift of a Winnie the Pooh book in a red bag.

“Bag,” she would say, and her mother would get the bag for her. She would carry it around as if it were the most wonderful thing.

“Book” she would say, and then listen attentively as one her relatives flipped through the pages and read the words out loud. Her sweet soul was taking it all in and appreciating all of it — the sound of our voices, the colors of the pictures, and what it all meant to her and her alone. Sitting near her, I could feel the beauty of her gentle presence. May God bless her and her family and comfort them in their loss.
