Michael P. Brooks, 52, of New Athens, IL, died Sunday, October 11, 2020, at his home.

Michael was born January 2, 1968, to Gerald and Janet (nee Edwards) Brooks in Belleville, IL. He met the love of his life, in his partner, Julie Wilderman, and they’ve spent more than 20 years together.

Mike was born and raised in Lebanon. He especially loved his children. He coached little league and basketball, and no matter the sport, he was always the loudest voice cheering. He had a passion for politics and sports, enjoyed playing golf, and was extremely intelligent. Mike was his own man, friendly and well liked; he loved people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Janet Brooks.

He is survived by his partner of more than 20 years, Julie Wilderman; children, Casey, Tyson, and Carter; brother, Wesley (Tiffany) Brooks; mother-in-law, Patricia Wilderman; aunts, Doris Edwards, Brenda Ledett, and Deloris Edwards; niece, Jada Holloway; a host of cousins and friends.
