Mary Pauline “Po” Campe (nee Daumueller), born August 17, 1915, Lebanon, IL, died Thursday, November 4, 2010, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.  She was 95 years of age.

Po was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Campe, whom she married April 4, 1944, in Shreveport, LA, and who died in 1991; her parents, Bill and Frances Daumueller; 1 sister, Maurgarite Blumenstein; 1 niece, Marianne Baer.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Karen (Bill) Mateyka, Dona (John) Schieppe, Jeff (Cherie) Baer, James (Julie) Baer; and numerous great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.

Po grew up in Lebanon and from an early age attended Sunday School at St. Paul’s E & R Church with over 30 years of perfect attendance.  Earl and Po grew up together in Lebanon and were married before he left for Europe and WWII.  Po managed the Illinois Power Company office in Lebanon and retired in 1973, after many years of greeting those who came to pay their power bill.

Some of her happiest moments were spent together with her beloved husband, Earl, at they traveled, enjoyed fishing, cooking delicious foods, and being together.

Po was an avid gardener and a long time member of the Lebanon Garden Club.  She loved to spend time in her garden of beautiful ferns, ginger root, many unique flowers and flowering shrubs.  Most recently Nasturtiums, grown from seed were her pride and joy.  Po also loved the birds, and from her kitchen window she enjoyed watching and recording the birds as they enjoyed the suet, seeds and the shrubs and plants she grew just for them.  Po had a God-given talent for intricate handwork.  Her many exquisite pieces of needlework are enjoyed by many.  As Po enjoyed all these activities, Tina, her little dog, was by her side, waiting to go for a walk.

Po was an active member of the Senior Citizens Club and also looked forward to attending performances of The Looking Glass Playhouse with special friend Hannah and others.
