Mark Christian Holubasch, 52, formerly of Belleville, IL, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at Community Hospital in Staunton, IL.

He was born December 22, 1969, to George Joseph and Roberta Leona (nee Hoedebecke) Holubasch in St. Louis, MO. Mark married his partner of 20 years, Jamie Ellis, on September 1, 2018, at the St. Clair County Courthouse in Belleville, IL.

Mark grew up in Collinsville, IL then moved to Belleville, IL where he spent most of his life before buying a home with Jamie in Livingston, IL. Mark loved his family more than anything; he was a treasured husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Mark loved to spend time with his family and had a special place in his heart for his daughter, Mariah. Mark was an outdoorsman, he liked to kayak, fish, play golf, and especially loved hiking in the Smoky Mountains. Mark was also a talented woodworker, he loved to refurbish the antiques he’d find with his wife as well as build new projects and repair the older ones. He was a MOPAR car enthusiast and loved his Challenger and his Jeep. He was a proud member of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers & Allied Workers No. 2 for over 30 years. Mark did a little bit of everything, he was a self-proclaimed “jack of all trades, but master of none.” He was a generous and compassionate man with a great sense of humor and will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents George J. and Roberta L. Holubasch; brother, Gregory Paul Holubasch; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Cregger; father-in-law, Richard LaVassaur.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Jamie Holubasch; daughter, Mariah Fairfield; siblings, George “Ed” Holubasch, Eugene “Chip” Holubasch, Ronald “Ronny” (Sandie) Holubasch, Terry (Roger) Cottrell, Mary Holubasch; nieces and nephews, Keith, Reneé, Nicole, Townsend, Kaylee, Cody; mother-in-law, Jane LaVassaur; sister-in-law, Laura (Carl) Santos; brothers-in-law, Stuart (Reonna) Haag, Steve Haag, Scott Haag; dear lifelong friends, Ted & Missy Niemann, Pat & Beth Blechle, Chris Neiner, Bob & Julie Whiting, Brian Threlkeld.

We knew Mark for almost thirty years. He was a compassionate, loving father to our grand daughter, Mariah. The qualities he exhibited and shared with her were wonderful. We knew how much he loved life, his family, his pets and most of all Jamie. Thank you for the loved that you both shared with Mariah. Mark’s passing reminds us all to not let a day go by without telling someone how much they mean to us. I firmly believe that God holds us all in His hand and that Mark is at peace. Listen to the angels, Jamie, for they will tell you to move forward knowing he loves you.
