      Marilyn D. Cather, 85, formerly of Highland, and a long-time Sylvania, OH Township resident, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania, OH.

      Marilyn was born November 7, 1931 to Joe and Edna (nee Reigel) Kapp in Highland, IL.  On October 3, 1953, she married Charles D. Cather at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL.

      Marilyn served as a Registered Nurse who practiced until she reached the age of 80. She was extremely dedicated to her patients and they fondly referred to her as “Sarge.” Marilyn began raising Bullmastiff Dogs in 1973, and was a life member of the Bullmastiff Association. Marilyn was many things, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a great nurse who was totally dedicated to her patients, and a faithful loyal friend to many; she will be missed!

      Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Edna Kapp, and her loving husband Charles D. Cather.

      She is survived by her daughter Mary Jo Peters; sons Charles W. (Kathleen) and James C. (Kelly) Cather; grandchildren, Sara (Travis) Patchen, Jessica (Trent) Davis, Colleen (Dzemalj) Ramic, Charles Paul (Jessica) Cather, Carrie (Chuck) Ruggeri, Jeremy (Hannah) Cather, Brandon Cather, Madison Cather; 13 great grandchildren; brother William Kapp; and faithful K – 9 Companion Beez.

      Memorials may be made to The American Macular Degeneration Foundation or The Bullmastiff Cancer Fund.
