    Loren Elmore, 84, Johnsonville, IL. went home to his Lord and Savior Saturday, March 9, 2024, at his home with his daughters at his bedside.

    Loren was born in Jasper County, Illinois to Homer and Mamie (Clagg) on March 31, 1939. He married Norma Jean Meyer on November 11, 1961, at Dieterich, IL. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2021.

    Loren and Norma Jean farmed in Jasper and Effingham County for nearly 20 years before moving their family to Wayne County in 1979.  Loren was a skilled hog and crop farmer. He enjoyed tinkering (modifying) his farm and hog equipment. He was a talented carpenter, building the family house in Wayne County in 1979. He loved reading the Bible every day.

    Loren is survived by two daughters, Nila (Ted) Hughes and June Elmore both of Cisne, IL; four grandchildren Travis (Jessica) Hughes of Johnsonville, IL, Lauren (Justin) Hilderbrand of Cisne, IL, Ryan Peach of Cisne, IL, and Conner Peach of Mt. Carmel, IL; two great grandchildren Luke Hughes and Rylie Backes both of Johnsonville, IL. Also surviving are a sister, Beverly (Paul) Flinn of Milton, Florida and a brother Sheldon Elmore of Mason, Illinois.

    Loren was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norma Jean Elmore (2021), and son John Elmore (1992) Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Ilene Corso and infant sister, Kathleen Elmore. Brothers preceding him in death were Alvin, Dean, Merle, Marvin, Roscoe, and Vonley Elmore.

    The visitation will be Wednesday, March 13th from noon until 2 pm at Brush Creek Church in Zenith IL. A graveside service will be held immediately following visitation at Brush Creek Cemetery.

    Memorials in Loren’s memory may be made to Clay County Hospice and will be accepted the day of the visitation or at the funeral home.
