Lloyd Philip Pooler, 79, of Lebanon, IL, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022, at his home, with his wife by his side.
Lloyd was born October 19, 1942 to Estelle (nee Pelletier) Pooler in Portland, ME. In May of 1949, he was adopted by Mark Pooler. He married Erline Merritt on January 16, 1965.
He was raised in and graduated high school in Bangor, ME. He joined the United States Air Force, serving 26 years with multiple assignments, but he was proudest of serving in the Presidential Wing at Andrews AFB, in Maryland, from 1965-1969. Following his military retirement, he was honored to work 10 years at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, retiring again in 1999 for medical reasons.
Lloyd dearly loved his John Deere green machine and was known as the neighborhood “Green Streak”. He courageously fought a 23-year battle with multiple health issues.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Estelle Pooler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Mildred Merritt; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maynard and Fonda Merritt; granddaughter, Lyndsey Marie Pooler.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Erline Pooler, Lebanon, IL; brother, Mark Pooler, Vero Beach, FL; sons, Lloyd (Brianna) Pooler II, Ashland, MO, Eric Pooler, Fulton, MO; daughter, Robin Kindelberger Pontiac, IL; grandchildren, Rebecca & Reid Kindelberger, Lilynn Ort, Bryttney, Ericka & Ian Pooler; and great grandchildren Ryler, Karsyn, Tavyn, & Brooklynn Kindelberger.
