Linda Yvonne Staton, age 66, of West Salem, IL, passed from this life to the next on May 1, 2020, at her home.

She was born on August 18, 1953, in Fairfield, IL, to Herman and Laura (Wade) Plock. She married Terry Staton on August 16, 1975, and they enjoyed 32 years together until he preceded her in death in 2007.

Linda was a CNA and spent the majority of her life taking care of others; something she absolutely lived for. Her grandchildren were her world and brought her much sunshine. How difficult to sum up all that Linda is in a few paragraphs, however, Kiley Anderson, a friend of her daughter, Jennifer, left a most fitting tribute to her on social media. “Her Mom fought a battle against cancer and she fought hard. I believe she is in Heaven right now pain free and happy with her husband, but it still doesn’t make it easier for the ones who loved her. Linda was a sweet and simple lady that loved her family and always put them first. She was stubborn and had the funniest sayings and the biggest heart. I’m glad I had the opportunity of knowing her, she will forever be missed.”

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Patsy Renshaw, and three brothers: Herman Curtis Plock, Carroll Dean Plock, and Darrell Plock.

Left to cherish fond and fun memories are her daughter, Jennifer (Kevin Pogue) Bittles; grandchildren, Gracie and Abijah Bittles, and Bill Dawsey, who Linda thought of as a son, all of West Salem; a sister, Loretta (Bob) Hillyard of Norris City, IL; a special niece, Barb McFarland of Carmi, IL, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, a private Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020, at West Antioch Baptist Cemetery, near Mill Shoals, IL, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Terry.

Friends and extended family are encouraged to share their funny, warm, and fond memories of Linda with her family at www.meridithfuneralhome.com.

Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home of West Salem is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
