    Lester Gayle Shreve, 92, of Cisne, IL passed away March 28, 2022, at Flora Rehab and Health Care.

    Lester was born September 5, 1929, at Wayne City, IL to Benjamin F. and Ethel (Legg) Shreve.  He married Joyce R. Pond on May 7, 1949, in Wayne City, IL and she survives.  They shared 73 years of marriage together.

    Lester retired in 1985 after nearly 32 years as a mechanic at Prove Design at Caterpillar in Aurora, IL.  He and Joyce owned J&L Ice Cream Shop in Cisne for 15 years.  Lester enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with grandchildren.  He was a member of Local UAW #145, in Aurora, IL.

    Lester is survived by his wife Joyce; a daughter Nikki Freeman of Plainfield, IL; three sons Larry (Debbie) Shreve of Leland, IL, Doug (Kim) Shreve of Plainfield, IL, and Rodney (Beth) Shreve of Cisne, IL; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.  A sister Nellie Scrivner of Belle Rive, IL; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

    Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank, and Ethel Shreve; brothers and sisters Virgil, Orval, Verl, Melba, Hazel, and Dorothy; son-in-law Terry Freeman.

    Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2022, from 5-7pm at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.

    Funeral services will be at 10am Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the funeral home.

    Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery near Wayne City.

    Memorials may be given to Flora Rehab and Healthcare Activity Fund or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.

    Many thoughts and prayers to all the Shreve family …I was very close to Lester and Joyce growing up as a child thought very highly of them ..Lester was a great man and will be missed very much …much love and many prayers to you all
